Private Internal Event for BAE Systems:

Visualizing Solutions is a new highly interactive form of presentation. It is used to address virtually any problem. If desired, it can be used to apply a set of principles to test how they can affect the problem. Visualizing Solutions are primarily custom presentations targeting a specific problem the client may be experiencing. The general format of the presentation are:

  1. Prototype the current state.
  2. Learn about principles that might help.
  3. Prototype a future state.
  4. Validate solutions.
  5. Create actions to implement the solutions.

One common presentation is the Project Prototype. This generic presentation starts by identifying a problem with most projects—they are too focused on process. A project prototype is exercise is done with the audience. In this between 10 and 15 people act out the way they do projects today. The problems are noted. Instruction is given on why we rely on process and how we can change that with leadership techniques. A second project prototype is done to apply the principles learned.

At the end, three or more action points are enumerated that should be implemented in the project methodology. The group assigns responsible party to each action for implementation.

By the end of the presentation, attendees will understand the importance of:

  • Project leadership.

  • The project manager's vision.

  • Modeling out problems so they can be visualized.

By the end of the presentation, attendees will understand the importance of balancing people and process, where to focus their efforts. The benefit of being more involved with the inner workings of the project will be evident.
